Lil Milkmonster and the Library

It was nearing the end of Bill's great adventure and I knew that he would be coming home soon so I arranged with Laura to keep Lil Milkmonster with me for Father's Day weekend. Unfortunately, I received a phone call from Laura on Friday afternoon that Nicholas was being sent home from school with a stomach virus and that she thought that he had better stay home instead. I was so disappointed and tried to think of something (besides cleaning the house) to keep me busy for this last weekend alone. I thought that maybe I would carve some new stamps since I have a zillion ideas for new local boxes since my trip up north and that I would rent a few movies and watch them while I carved. Sounded ok to me. But plans changed again on Saturday morning. Laura called and said that Nicholas had a fairly uneventful night and that if I still wanted to have him here, she would let me have him. Did I want him???? What a silly question! But, being the good letterboxer that I am, I realized that the opportunity was presenting itself to go search for MizScarlet's The Corsican. This box isn't far from Laura's house but it is in a library and getting there when it is open does present a problem for me. So I printed off the clues to this box, grabbed two sets of logbooks and stamps, and went for my Lil Milkmonster.

When I saw him, I could tell that even though he had an uneventful night, he still wasn't his boisterous little self and he actually fell asleep on the ride to the library. I waited about twenty minutes in the car with him when we actually reached our destination so that he could continue to nap and even managed to put his shoes and socks on while he slept without waking him. When he awoke, we went into the library which is a fairly small one. There were however, many people in it. I had to look for the reference section and quickly discovered that it was NOT under the sign which said "reference". So we poked around a bit and finally found it along a wall with a group of chairs in front of it with a man firmly planted in the one right in front of the box. There was just enough room for me to squeeze in between the man and the bookshelves with Nicholas planted firmly on my hip. Just as I went to grab the letterbox, Nicholas had an extremely loud bout of flatulence, right in the ear of the man in the chair. Serves him right for not moving!

But we got our box and headed for home. Bill arrived home unexpectedly late that night and together on Sunday, we comforted Nicholas through the last stages of his virus. By the time his parents came for him that evening, I had his virus and spent the next 48 hours either in bed or the bathroom. And then Bill got it and spent his 48 hours in bed or the bathroom. We are both now recuperating and I am hoping to be out boxing again soon, but it probably won't be this weekend.
