On the Way in Emmaus

Saturday morning dawned beautiful and clear, just like the prior day. But almost better than the beautiful day was the site of Barney jumping up and down and wagging his tail when he heard me get out of bed. When I had been on my way home from Maryland the previous day, Sewsowbizzy had called and mentioned that I could probably make it back down to Little Bennett in time for coffee on Saturday morning. Seems everyone knows about my early rising habits. I have to admit that I did consider this seriously but decided that I wasn't going to test just how well Barney was doing by taking him on another long trip and then being forced to turn around and come home. Instead, I decided that we would do some local boxing. I quickly settled on Lightnin' Bug's On the Way in Emmaus series. After setting these boxes up on my mapping program, I also quickly found out that I would be able to drive to several of them instead of making the 5 mile walk which would be better for Barney at this time. So off we went to Emmaus to be greeted with this welcoming site.

And our journey had begun. It proved to be a very enjoyable one - Barney seemed back to normal, the weather was again cool enough for a sweatshirt but a little overcast on this day. The tour of Emmaus was great and I was once again in full swing with my camera. Pictured below on the top left is the 1803 House and next to it is the cute little house covering some utility hookups. Then there is the Shelter Haus which is also the home of the Bug's Zuflucht Haus letterbox. And here is Barney sitting beneath the sign which says that no dogs are allowed in the park. Oh, dear, too bad Barney can't read. In actuality, I ran into other dog walkers in this same park so I wasn't too concerned about my little friend being kicked out. The next two pictures are of the Moravian graveyard which contains some extremely old gravestones - some back to the 1700's. Rich is offering a free answer to one of his tougher letterboxing clues for telling him the oldest grave in the cemetery which I was able to do. Now I am contemplating my one question......

Note: I can't seem to get the pictures to line up correctly. Everytime I save them, they seem to re-arrange themselves. Sorry - I think you can figure out which is what.

  1. No, he is not doing what you think he is doing. He is pouting because I told him to sit so I could take his picture. Eevil Bug!
