Even though I had an absolutely wonderful time in Canada, it was so good to be home. It was good to drive to Laura's to pick up Barney and it was wonderful to give the Lil Milkmonster a big hug and smell his baby smell. It was good to sleep in my own bed. It was good to unpack and do the laundry. It even felt good to spend my Memorial Day holiday getting the yard work caught up. I think that the absolute best part of going away is coming home.
After I had gotten caught up and sat down to review my trip, I came up with the following conclusions. I had driven almost 900 miles, found 54 letterboxes in my four days, gotten 5 personal travellers, 3 hitchhikers, three event stamps, 17 new exchanges, used 2 tanks of gas. My total dollars spent including the gas and my cabin on the ship was under $200.
The best parts of the trip included finding a note from Yankeechik waiting for me on the Alexander Henry, running into Wink and Tarheel and then boxing with them, Norasta's wonderful clue book which didn't require reading glasses, staying aboard a real ship, the beautiful city of Kingston itself, having old friends (the shopping Red Hat Boxers) there.
Memorial Day afternoon, after everything was caught up and I was still unwinding from the whirlwind I had been through, I found that there were two new boxes in this area. I jumped in the car to go in search of Nature Girl's Green Leaves which was in the little town of Blandon, just north of where I live. When I pulled into the park, I wondered why in the heck would someone want to place a box here, but then I walked the trail that it was on and found the little trails to be absolutely lovely, especially on a sunny late afternoon. From here I headed to Mertztown, to the area where I had picked up the worst case of poison ivy that I ever had in my life. Indigo Vulture's replacement Dr. Who box is now residing in the same park. Fortunately, I found Dr. Who #7A fairly easily and even had time to stop and enjoy listening to the frogs croaking in the little pond which is the highlight of this park. Indigo Vulture was gracious enough to post a warning in his clues about the possibility of poison in the area, but I want to be sure to let everyone know that I got my poison from carelessness, not from the placement of any box. I didn't take the time to watch where I was going nor to clean up when I got back to the car. And I did not get poison from finding Dr. Who on this visit to the park.
