A Boxing Weekend Continued

Sunday morning, November 13, I had arranged to meet my girlfriend, Peggy, at Nolde Forest for a nice walk. Before I left the house, I checked the new letterboxes website and found that two new boxes at Nolde had been posted the night before so I quickly printed off the clues and grabbed my boxing bag and set off for the park. We quickly found the first of the boxes - the Santa part of the Santa and Yukon Cornelius series by Pink Panther and Black Swan, but had a great deal of difficulty with the Yukon Cornelius part. The clues said to stand on a bridge and find the tree growing next to a fallen tree. Well, there are six bridges on the path we were on and quite a few fallen trees so after checking many of them out, we gave up and went on to look for Pink Panther and Black Swan's other box - Witch Way in Nolde Forest. We were successful in that but it took a lot of backtracking and retracing our steps before we found that box. I must learn to read the clues a bit more carefully from now on!

While we were still walking through the park, I got a phone call from Laura asking if I wanted to watch Nicholas for a couple of hours while she and Chip were working on a project at home. I had to think about that prospect for all of three seconds before I decided to hurry down to capture my favorite grandson. I also welcomed the chance to give Laura her birthday gifts since I hadn't been able to see her on her actual birthday the day before. Nicholas was so happy to give her the ten jars of Hawaiian Delight baby food and the box of Whiman Chocolates that he had picked out for her . Then Nicholas and I decided to take advantage of the 60 plus degree weather to do some boxing ourselves. We set off for the nearby Play Nice in Downingtown. The park was a little local park but it took us quite a while to discover the secret hiding spot for this box. When we did, we were happy to discover that we were first finders. After stamping in - well, I stamped in, I had forgotten Lil Milkmonster's stamp back in the car - we headed back to the car and decided to go to the Paoli Battlefield.

I had adopted the 5 Amigups letterbox a few weeks ago, with their permission, after I visited it and noticed that it seemed to need a little TLC. When I read the story of the battlefield, I also decided that I wanted to do some stamps that dealt with the history of the battle there. The park sign board which told the history of the battle also contained pictures of the American and English soldiers who fought there so I carved replicas of those. Nicholas and I replaced the 5 Amigups box with the American soldier box and then went into the woods to hide the English soldier.

After that, we called it a day and I reluctantly returned my angel baby to his parents. What a great weekend it turned out to be though, six new boxes found, two planted, beautiful weather and a visit with my grandson. As they say, it doesn't get better than this.
